Description

In the north of Nijmegen approx 12k new dwellings are being built. Each section is based on the principle of sustainable urban water management. In the Waalsprong the rainwater is harvested in swales and then drained tot the watersystem. The way of running water is visualized in many ways e.g with water playgrounds. This example project contains open stormwater flow, collection of rainwater from private properties, art relating to climate adaptation and is esstially a sort of "green" water square which stores the rainwater before discharging to the exiating swales in the neighbourhoud.
