Wind resilient school structure with windbreak wall

Problem Area - Damage by Wind

Created at: 15 May 2022

Description

  1. Concrete block windbreak wall of 3m height and 36m length to disperse force of high winds which historically moved up the adjacent hillside and damaged school roofing

  2. Rehabilitating school structure by rebuilding the roof with stronger materials and secure joints. Wind resilient technical improvements include 0.38mm thick zinc roofing fastened to rafters by ribbed roofing nails and screws for stronger grip during high winds. Metal brackets on timber truss and rafter joints to secure the roof together

  3. 40m of fencing around front of school to prevent children entering or leaving school directly onto the road
